Since this is an About page, I should tell you a little about myself, if for no other reason than to show you, the reader, that this page states the truth. However, the About may be for no other reason than me telling you what’s my reason for wanting you to read anything on this blog—and, truth be told, if you should come up with a good reason, please send it to me, for your reason for me starting this blog may well be closer to any reason I may eventually come up with on my own. There, that’s your first challenge; maybe that’s my reason for all this blather.
A reason I chose on my own, which may be as good as any, is that I retired recently from teaching a variety of primary, secondary, and college courses stretching way back to the 1970s, which isn’t bad for an old geezer who saw the light of day two months prior to the world premier of my favorite movie, Casablanca, that took place in New York City on November 26, 1942—unfortunately, since I was living in La Jolla, California at the time, I had to wait a few years before I saw it in person. And that reason, which may be as good as any, is that I retired recently from teaching a variety of primary, secondary, and college courses and I didn’t want my vast wealth of stored up useful and useless knowledge, peppered here and there with trivia, to go to waste, and since sharing is not a bad thing, even by today’s hoi polloi standards, I chose this platform to put what little I know to good use.
So, what it may well come down to, is my personal remedy for staving off old-ageitis, is to proliferate cyberspace and beyond, as well as you, my reader(s), with the wisdom gleaned from my students over the past 50 or so years, and put it to good use. Also, I decided to write down my musings on a variety of principles, values, and thoughts that have piqued my curiosity over the past 75 years—some old, some new, some ancient, and some recent and, perhaps, some still germinating somewhere between my ears—all stretching way back to 1960, the year my career first took off—which isn’t bad for an old geezer who saw the light of day two months prior to the world premier of my favorite movie, Casablanca, that took place in New York City on November 26, 1942, and, unfortunately, since I was living in La Jolla, California at the time, I had to wait a few years before I saw it in person.
So, now you know what this About is all about. Now all that’s left for me to do, is to post this, that, or those articles that will support what I’ve gone to the monumental trouble to scribble in order to tell you what this blog is all about, and to scribble this, that, or those articles in such a way that each one of them will make sense of the nonsense that, seemingly, has become the norm.
